Boxee TV

Pros: The interface is nice, when it works.

Cons: Unit generates excessive heat, locks up, loses internet connectivity, has to be power-cycled to restart, doesn't include Amazon or Hulu Plus.

Summary: I picked up a Boxee TV at Wal Mart last Thursday. It went back for a refund today, exactly 1 week later. It ran so hot that I was concerned about fire risk, and there's no way to turn it off except to unplug it. The remote control was flat, smooth and minimally marked. No raised buttons, which makes using the remote in a dark room a bit of a challenge. Also there were two mysterious buttons that weren't mentioned in the minimal documentation provided. Boxee also claimed to provide a three month free trial for Netflix, but the promo key they provided was invalid. The Boxee TV unit locked up every few minutes when I was trying to stream or trying to watch live (over the air) TV. Only way to restart was to pull the cord and power-cycle it. Boxee TV is no competition for Roku, and it even managed to suck worse than Apple TV, which is quite an accomplishment. What a terrible product!
