"This product suffers from design flaws that have casued it to be useless in my system"
Pros: Great Menu and search features
Cons: compatibility issues; product does so what is promised; Picture on SD is not as good as a decent DVD player
Summary: I own a Mitsubishi WD052825 with a useless built in DVR. When the moviebeam is connected to the TV with an HDMI cable, it apparanlty sees a DVR instead of a TV, and will only display movies in 408P. The 480P picture quality is far below tha tof my pioneer elite DVD player. I purchased the unit for its HD content, which is unavailable to me. The digital out to my receiver does not function and so I am watching movies through my TV speakers, although I have a terrific Home theater set up. Half of the time, when booted up, no sound is available and I have to unplug and reset the unit. Tech support has promised solutions, but has yet to deliver (or call back when they promise). The box says "Add WOW to your home theater". The only wow so far has been on my credit card bill and in the amount of time I have weasted trying to fix this so far sub-par product. I will follow up if the engineers actually fix the problems. Additionally, the available movie titles are very weak - Mostly old titles that I rented on dish network years ago or that I own on DVD already.Updated
Tech support followed up with me last night. It appears that the problems are more widespread than initially thought- this product WILL CURRENTLY NOT DISPLAY MOVIES IN HD ON ANY MITSUBISHI HDTV (including those TV's that do not have DVR's). Please be sure to verify that your TV is compatible with this unit before purchasing. If I was able to adjust my rating (which I can't) I would adjust it to a "2" (and would also fix all the typos in my first post!). I will post an update if the problem is addressed.

I just tried my Moviebeam box last night for the first time, viewing a standard def movie. It was great with very good video quality, and it came across upconverted to 720p, by the moviebeam box, using an HDMI hookup. The strange thing is that I have a Mitsubishi 52725, which is same as MB250's 52825, except that it has no built-in DVR. Therefore, it appears that (1) Moviebeam has fixed the Mitsubishi incompatibility, (2)there wasn't one to start with, or(3)it's specific to the unit with the built-in DVR. I'll leave a complete rating of my own in a few days (today is 11/10/2006) after I watch at least one HD movie using Moviebeam. This series of Mitsubishi HD TVs were sold mainly in 2005, so you probably wouldn't run into one in the stores today.
