"Poor support, hinky on networks, firmware beta at best."0.5 starson by roadlife
Pros: BD menus (useless anyway)
Cons: -Everything about it is beta.
-Very poor support both by maker and almost no users in user forums.
-Atrocious network connectivity,. Unstable and problematic on even most hardy wired network with basic network shares off of home server handing WDTV, and R
Summary: My father in law got one of thee as a gift. I used a WDTV and Asus, and have helped friends set up Seagate, Boxee and Roku media players with little to no problems. The NeoTV is by far the most problem and bug ridden of any media player I have ever seen. It does not play well with home networks, and I have been dealing with networks for almost two decades. It drops network shares on otherwise extremely stable networks.
The firmware is a mess. there are any number of typcial user functions that will freeze the unit an this with a really rather inelegant GUI.
NeoTV hawks BD playback as a differntiator, but no one who has these media players for any liength of time is using disk anyway, and those that do would be 1000x better off with a standalone BD player and a robust media player like Roku or WD.
Lastly, there is questionable follow through by maker (essential with these boxes) on firmware, the main early issues have not even been touched with firmware updates
