Pros Easy to use, baster than my blue ray player to work through menus.
Cons Various owners report losing the wireless signal, and once lost, it seems impossible to restore. Roku support suggest resetting the router to static DNS, but that was not a feature of my router supplied by ISP Verizon.
Summary Too many on-line reports of connection problems make this a poor product.
Pros possibilities. hoping one day there will be a media center extender channel.
Cons be ready with netflix/hulu/amazon subscriptions. There are private channels but the quality varies greatly.
Summary noticed some popping noises at times, seems to be wifi releated. Make sure you have a strong signal.
Pros Once again, while your review did mention that this unit won't make much of a media player, you didn't mention the preeminent, yet rarely mentioned unit that does. Western Digital's WD TV Live Plus. It's available for $80 and plays .avi, wmv, mp4, m4v, mk
Cons Lacking support for media stored locally. That's a pretty big "lack".
Summary Why reviewers obsess over some concocted Apple/Roku battle while completely, and repeatedly ignoring the WD TV Live Plus is beyond me. It's the "Ron Paul" of media players. The best choice by far, but nobody in the mainstream media approves.
