Roku XD (2050X)

Pros: This is my first roku and it rocks! I am able to watch hulu plus, netflix, cnet tv, and amazon VOD. The ultimate content king, it just works and is very easy to set up first time. No issues connecting wifi or connecting the services to my account.

Cons: The menu screen is constantly adjusting to be 1080p instead of the 720p I set, but it doesn't do it while watching a show. A few times it has crashed and I wish that the text was a little bigger for my small TV. Overall a no big issues.

Summary: It's a great value, I can watch just about anything I want on it. The roku is definitely the easiest and cheapest set top box. The roku was easy to set up and the company seems very solid even if it is an underdog compared to the giant that is apple and its TV. Definitely take a look at this and see if it's what you want. There is no browser on it but it certainly gives it a bang for its buck. I love that the device is always on so there is absolutely no start up time. The roku has a screensaver that comes on after a customizable time but it turns right back on. And I use my iPod touch to control it via DVPremote which works very solidly. Be sure to get at least the XD version though for the special remote just in case, but remember almost nothing on the web streams in 1080p just 720p so don't get the XD for the full HD. The XDs offers limited content played through the USB but I wouldn't use the feature so for me it didn't fit. The roku is a great device and works great as a content consumption device. Very cheap and very easy to use even for the non-techies everyone knows.
