"Best media streamer on the market hands down"
on by msealsPros Easy of use, very intuitive, wide variety of channels (aka streams), Hulu Plus and Netflix, free or low cost solution to Apple TV, PlayOn allow for additional network channel streaming, a must have with children, content on demand, not tied to iTunes and
Cons No easy solution for personal media content streaming, requires special cables if you don't go with HDMI
Summary I must say, I have a 2 1/2 yr old who has grown up with a Roku. Because of this, the concept of wating for a show to come on is not within his grasp. He is so use to wanting to watch a show and just turning it on that he doesn't understand the concept of TV. In the past this would require me to store hundreds of DVD's or going way back VHS tapes. If you go wireless and have an HDMI port available go with the XDS. It is worth having Dual band wireless N for the best wireless speed and less buffering times. I have one upstairs that is wired and one that is wireless in the basement. Although there is a noticeable lag with the initial buffer, once things are playing it is identical. There are no pauses for buffering. If you do have that most likely it is your wireless network or the distance to your wireless router is too far and the signal is weak. If that is the case either go with a wired solution or purchase a wireless bridge will can help with signal strength and allow the Roku to just stream with a wired connection. I have bought 3 of them and have highly recommended them to family and friends as a cheap TV watching solution.

"Awesome little box is you want streaming in bedroom!"
on by fencer55Pros I have a Blu-Ray player that steams Netflix. Got Roku XDS for HuluPlus but was so disappointed. Luckily, Roku works great for streaming shows to my old tube TV in the bedroom. Fast forwards and rewinds better than my blu-ray player.
Cons Would be better if has a built in hard disk to prevent stream from dropping on occasion.
Summary Great little product, works with new and old tvs. Awesome for the money. Small and lightweight, easy to switch to different TV in house.

"Nice device for streaming Netflix"
on by mcrofutPros Price, set up and connectivity is easy, 1080p.
Cons Not a big deal, but you need to use web site to add most channels by adding access code. That might be true with any streaming device. If you don't have a dual channel wi-fi router, save a few bucks and buy a cheaper model in this line.
Summary Not sure where you could find a blue ray player with dual channel wi-fi for under $100 as the reviewer indicates. Mine works great as a streaming Netflix device. The other content isn't as useful to me. Maybe when Hulu Plus is available it will be more useful.

"It kept dropping the wireless signal."
on by notsaavyPros I don't know because it never worked.
Cons 4 reps in 5 hours; would connect and then drop the wireless signal.
Summary 2 reps were no help at all; 1 rep finally got it working but as soon as I tried to connect to Netflix the Roku dropped the wireless signal. The fourth rep kept me repeatring the same steps for 45 minutes until I said "enough". I sent it back the same day I unpacked it because it simply wouldn't work.
