"Wanted to link the comp to the TV, got this box instead"
0.5 starson by Il SognoPros: Small, HD picture competent.
Cons: Has difficulty detecting and accessing Windows 7 home network via LAN, remote control POS, locks up, doesn't display video thumbnails, none of the software that came with the FreeAgent HD or the GoFlex TV properly syncs.
Summary: A friend recently bought a WD TV hub. Saw this product at the store and thought I'd give it a chance.
Wish someone had reviewed this before I.
This plastic box locks up when viewing photos/video, the LAN documentation is sparse, and does not seem to be able to access shared directories on my wired local area network, which was the principle reason I purchased this box.
The LED is very bright, particularly for an object that is designed for home entertainment purposes. The component cables that came with this device are ludicrously small, limiting placement.
The remote control is unresponsive; at times the box has locked up and wouldn't shut down.
Both the Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex TV and the Seagate FreeAgent Hard drive (purchased separately) came with multiple syncing software packages; none of which correctly updated the HD. But they did happen to install a plethora of junk-ware that has prompted me to update forty-freaking-thousand times.
Look, Seagate, I don't want software to track packages.
Currently Googling '<merchant where I purchased this lump of plastic> restock fee.'
