"Works really well for what I use it for..."
5.0 starson by thp1972Pros: Plays a wide variety of video file formats
Cons: Will not pull TV show info
Summary: I spent a lot of time ripping my DVDs to the computer. I've ripped some in formats from xvid to mkv. I've tried a jailbroken Apple TV running plex and the Roku 2 XS. The Apple TV works alright but I'd prefer to plug a hard drive into the device for better reliability than relying on wifi. I can plug the HD into the Roku but the list of supported video formats isn't too long. I found what I was looking for in the WD. The only drawback, if you can call it that, is that the device won't manually get the metadata for tv shows. WD says a firmware update will be coming soon to fix this issue soon (supposed to be in the next few weeks from this posting) so we will see. Because I mainly watch content on my own hard drives, I cannot effectively evaluate its online offerings. But for what I am using it for, the device is the best I've tried so far.
