basic frame--good performance out of the box
Pros: easy set-up, sleek modern design
Cons: problems transferring many images via USB, no video, no internal memory, can't back up slide show
Review:
I have had this digital photo frame for about two weeks. It is basic photo frame which I had little problem setting up and getting to work. Everything except memory cards was provided in the box. The instructions are few, but there is not much you can change and the slide show starts automatically once a memory card is inserted and it is turned on. The only challenge was trying to transfer a large number of files to a (cheap) 2 GB SD card installed in the frame and connected to the computer via the provided USB cable. After about a hundred images, I couldn't transfer any more files directly to the card. I'm not sure what the problem was. I popped the card into my work laptop which was able to quickly transfer all of the files I wanted to which then played seamlessly on the photo frame.
The frame allows you to vary the slide show photo duration from 3 to 60 sec each. It has some basic semi-cheesy transitions between photos and you can display the file name if you wish.
As an entry level photo frame, the screen size and resolution are not spectacular, but that should not come as a surprise. The contrast is a little high for my taste and the colors are more "saturated" than I would like, but it is not too bad. The frame has output to a TV--both NTSC and PAL, but I haven't tried that, but it is nice that they even included a video cable--not expensive, but it?s nice to actually have everything you need minus the memory card.
Sometimes when I seen an image that I like, I would like to go back and take another look, but the only way to do that is to stop the slide show. At that point, you will see 9 thumbnails to pick the picture you want (large images load a little slow in the thumbnail mode). Then you can zoom into the image, delete it, or elect to continue the slide show.
Displaying the images is semi-random. The images are not in the order that I transferred them to the card but they also follow the same order every time I turn it on--maybe it's the physical order they are arranged on the memory card?
Overall it?s a good basic digital photo frame with few problems and solid basic performance.
