  • "Simple, Great Pitcure Frame"
    on by jets1969

Pros Image quality, auto on/off, able to take many types of memory cards

Cons nothing major, I guess it could have included wifi

Summary I have had this frame for about a year and it's great. The image quality is great, better than any other digital picture frame I've seen. I love the timer function so that you can set the frame to go on and off at certain times. The ability to use any memory card type is great. It comes with some built in memory so you won't need a memory card to get started. It's simple to use, just plug it into your PC and it shows up as a removable storage device. The battery is a nice feature, it makes it easy to pick the frame up and hand it to people to look at. The only way this frame could be better is if it had wifi to hook up with a network and grab pics from there. But that is more complicated, this is a simple to use frame. I bought one for my mother and sister and even they can figure out how to use it.

  • "WARNING: NOT Mac-compatible"
    on by focusingfluid

Pros the few photos that did load looked good

Cons I wasted most of a weekend trying to get more than 13 pictures to load.

Summary This device is supposed to be Mac-compatible? Fuhgeddaboutit. Once you spend the money and open the box, you learn that the photo manager software provided is only for the PC.

And once you do any searching online, you learn that all the problems you're experiencing as a Mac user have been experienced by others.

It's supposed to hold 100 photos. After 3 days of trying, I couldn't get it to hold more than 13. I reduced file size down to a bare minimum. I was WAY under the capacity, yet a maximum of 13 photos would load. That's trying it both from my Mac directly and from a photo memory card.

Sorry. This attractive-looking and -sounding concept is not ready for prime time if you're a Mac user. I rarely write reviews in forums like this but I don't want to see another Mac user experience the frustrations I have - and those that I now have read online that other Mac users have had with this product.

The user guide was useless and the phone technical support guys (I called twice and talked with two of them) could only read from the user guide. They were clueless.

  • "Great frame but the electronics will fail"
    on by Yoshi9

Pros Good image quality and menu system

    Cons Will die in days

Summary I've had two Philips frames. Both died within days of purchase and couldn't be re-set. I called the factory and they can't explain it. So I'd wait for this bug to be found and fixed before investing in one of these frames. Also, I used a 4 GB CF card with 1000 pictures on it (the factory approves a 4GB card) and it seemed the same ones kept coming up, even when it was set to randomize.

  • "Didn't last 2 months"
    on by lorne45

    Pros Good color, versatility

Cons Something went wrong with the picture

Summary I purchased this digital picture frame from Costco.com, because Philips has a reputation for quality products, and there were a number of options for picture input, using different picture "albums", and several different colored templates which attached to the front of the frame magnetically.
Unfortunately, after about a month and a half, the picture started flickering, something like a venetian blind/horizontal bar pattern. The picture was still there, but there was a lot of flickering, making it unwatchable.
I note that Costco.com no longer offers this item.
Philips offered to service it, but I would have to ship it to Arkansas at my expense.

  • "Only one store?"
    on by joerog55

    Pros Reasonable price

    Cons Availability

Summary I'm not rating the product yet, but just want to add that your site only had one store "pcRush" as a shopping location, but I searched and found many more retailers, and every one had a better price. I ended up purchasing from Erwin Computers (ERWINCOMP.COM) They didn't have the best price but had the best shipping options. -JR
