"Awesome image quality, but slow operation"
Pros: Image display quality, 14 inches, 1280x800 native resolution, support for many card format, mosaic mode is cool, does good job of image resize, great value for screen size. Slideshow mode will repeat all images. Can be left on for weeks at a time.
Cons: Very slow operation for menus and power on, especially turning it on. USB connection to PC has issues. Rather poor user interface for interacting with pictures and settings, but usable. Manual/documentation really stinks. No audio support.
Summary: I highly recommend to fellow geeks or technically inclined. The user interface (UI) is not great, but usable. Also the menu system is rather sluggish and power on takes forever (it seems). Slideshow performance is good except for a few transitions, best results for images resized to native 1280x800 resolution. Mosiac mode is cool and it will tile the images based on their orientation (landscape vs portrait) -- transitioning them accordingly. Although seeing my photos with the full 14 inches is even better. Image quality is wonderful thanks to the great LCD screen and high resolution. I haven't bothered trying the video features since it does't support audio at all. Documentation is very poor. Manual doesn't even describe the resolution under the technical specs section -- but it is clearly printed on the box. I have no idea if it supports SDHC only SD is mentioned (will try soon). Also, haven't been able to get the mini-USB connection to PC or USB host (USB drives) working yet, it could be user error, overly complicated, or just broke -- not sure which one yet. These days with frames playing back MP3 and other audio formats, it seems odd this one doesn't support it. That also makes the video support significantly less useful without audio playback. Honestly, it use it as a digital picture frame (funny) so audio/video playback is not an important feature to me.
Considering the image quality, resolution, and screen size, it is a great value for people willing to put up with the slowness and other weaknesses. For my needs -- put in a 2gb SD card and let it do slideshow mode, continuously left on. it will happily repeat my pictures all the time. I've left it on for almost a month without any issues.
