"Great Video Player"
Pros: Compact for the size of the screen, Love the looks, The Gui is well thought out, Love the added codec feature, Integrated Podcast support, Will play back h.264 with most video Podcasts are in.
Cons: Battery life is not as good as it should be, Proprietary sync cable, Audio quality is not quite as good as previous modals and Audio does not go up loud enough while watching some low volume movies.
Summary: This a perfect example of a product that has so much potential and falls short for who knows what reason. It has a great screen. Displays pictures very well and plays back a ton of video codecs. Where it falls short is in the mentioned cons above. I still like this player more than my iPod 5G but with a couple of improvements this thing could have been the bomb. I am a big fan of Archos but I am puzzled why they walked away from what their fans came to know and love about their players. I would recommend this player. It does what it does very well it just could have been so much better. No volume limit for US customers, Standard USB cable and better battery would have put it over the top for me. I know people were upset about having to buy the recording dock if you wanted to record from an AV source but I don't use that feature so the lower cost was better for me. It is so frustrating for me to have a device come so close to exactly what I want and screw it up with things they could have easily done right.
