"Sleek design and audio, but incompatible with new I-pod"2.0 starson by horva018
Pros: I was so excited when I purchased this all-in-one machine. It looks great, has fun features like HD radio and song tagging. The audio is decent and is relatively easy to set up.
Cons: The major con of this piece of equipment is that it is not compatible with generation 4 i-pod devices.
Summary: This is a decent piece of equipment if you use an older i-pod, but don't waste your money if you have a new i-pod. I purchased the XDR-S10HDiP - HD approximately 1 month before purchasing my new i-pod nano. I was surprised to see that when I connected my i-pod in the docking port, the display read "cannot detect". When I contacted Sony to see what I could do to remedy the problem, I was e-mailed back, "I'm sorry, but the iPod nano 4th generation is not compatible with the Sony Digital Radio and the proper operation cannot be guaranteed." And more frustratingly, I was told, "I'm sorry that you are not completely satisfied with your Sony product. It is appreciated you've taken the time to share your comments with us. It is important to receive feedback so we may consider the needs of our customers in the future." Clearly the representative cut and pasted these lines out of a manual, and offered no true solution to my problem. As a consequence, I am out almost $200.00. Clearly, Sony's customer support is lacking.
