"Do not be fooled. Get a TIVO. Even Comcast is better"
Pros: Inexpensive. Large Capacity.
Cons: Horrific Remote. "Clunky" user interface.
Summary: I have used them all: Comcast, TIVO, Dish Network DVR, even Microsoft's temporary foray into DVR's 2 years ago. TIVO is far superior. 3 years no problems. I only changed because I moved into temporary housing and decided to try the others. I read the reviews here after I had already called Dish Network to cancel (beware of their 3 day cancellation policy)
This product would say it recorded shows and then they would not show up. Sometimes I could not rewind, only fast-forward. The most irritating ommision is how it changes to record another channel without asking you to change.... BAM it's just goes. TIVO would at least ask. Sometimes I don't want to record a scheduled show! Let me decide.
I really wanted this one to work for me for the price, but I sent it back after only 3 days of heavy usage. It missed 4 shows, but said it was taping them, and showed them in the history. Pure unadultarated junk. The most defining differentiating factor of all the DVR's is the remote. TIVO's remote wins by 100k miles. What are Comcast and Dish Network thinking with such crowded remotes. USABILITY. USABILITY, USABILITY! It's the same reason IPOD's beat the rest of em ... And let's not talk about the support. They gave me some half-baked story about daylight savings time causing the taping problems. If your DVR cannot handle daylight savings time like a $5 Walmart watch, this simply underscores why I sent it back .....
