"No OTA, they need to wake up to what's happening" on by thatguyfromla
Pros: I like that you can record without a monthly fee. But it only works with Cable or Sat Dishes, no OTA (Over-the-Air) reception/input. Too bad, I'd buy it otherwise.
Cons: NO OTA capability. Everything is moving to the Internet a lot quicker that what was thought it would. In other words, away from Cable and Sat Dishes.
Summary: I think this would be a great alternative to Tivo and and the cable and sat DVRs. But they have to know that the industry is shifting, and shifting very quickly, to people dropping their paid providers and going with OTA and internet boxes. Therefore, the need for OTA is crucial at the price point that they're at if they want the consumer to spend this much money on something that would be outdated in, what appears to be, the near future. I called them and they had no plans to update. Unless they make that an option, I don't think they're an option and I don't think they'll be in business too long.
