Pros User friendly interface. Component output. Network ready (no need for adapter)
Cons Service is hideous. Worst I have ever experienced. Remote is poorly designed.
Pros Easy to use
Cons Limited shelf live/average picuture
Summary We bought the unit and it worked great. For a while. Suddenly lots of lock ups. Sent it back for a painful repair process. Never did work right after the repair. Liked the DVR experience, so we convinced ourselves that we had a lemon. We bought a second one. Lasted about a year. Same problem. Tossed it in the trash and went with the cable company rental DVR. The cable rental box picture quality is 100% better, and can record HD and two shows at the same time. Buy this only if you have lots of cash and can afford to replace it frequently.

Pros Good Menu, Easy to learn, Remote Control-Hook up
Cons Tivo has a better menu, Bulk
Summary I actually have this unit, and prior had a Tivo whose internal modem died after 4 months. I have had no problems with this unit (Over 2 years now) and the quality and realibility has been more then what I expected.
I have never missed a show unless it was user error. My wife loves the unit because it is easy to use and it has never missed any of her shows.
One thing to know is that we switch our phone service to Vonage andd this unit does not work with Vonage. It does not recognize for some reason the dial tone on Vonage. Luckliy I was able to hook it up with an Ethernet cable which makes the updating time go from 15 minutes to 2 minutes or less.
It blends in well with my Home Theatre system and sounds great. Unit is a little bulky though.
The menu is easy to use, but Tivo is slightly better. Overall it works as advertise. I just wish the monthly fee was less. $ 12.95 and you must pay or this becomes an expensive doorstop.

Pros streaming network video
Cons unsure about corporate viablity
Summary I actually have 3 units, all the older 5000 series with commercial advance. The commercial advance is great, but not critical for my needs. However, I have my house wired for ethernet and the ability to stream from room to room is fantastic. I've had my units for about 4 years now and have definitely got my money's worth.
One thing I'm unsure about, though is the fiscal viability of the company. Ownership of the technology has bounced around a bit, primarily because of lawsuits surrounding the commercial advance and ability to send shows over the net.
Pros The ability to network and access from anywhere
Cons The technical support is not very helpful
Summary I have loved my ReplayTV since I first unpacked it. It has features that my Comcast DVR does not. The best one being the ability to skip through commericals with the 30 sec skip forward. Also, the SHOW/NAV feature is awesome.
