"Tivo is awesome!"
Pros: very convienent and effective for tv watching
Cons: only 1 tuner, few other little things (see opinion)
Summary: Overall, Tivo is wonderful. I'm so glad I got it. I like how I can search listings for actors and keywords and the season passes etc. Tivo is hard to live without once you experience it.
Cons:
1.) it only has 1 tuner and needs at least 2 tuners. This way you can record stuff that is on at the same time.
2.) related to above: i often set an over-record in my season passes by 2 minutes at beginning and end of show so I don't miss anything. If two shows running back to back on the same channel are airing, TIVO spits out a problem telling me the shows overlap cause of my over-record, but the shows are on the same channel so this shouldn't be a problem.
3.) TIVO doesn't allow you to continue recording for 3 or 4 minutes after the show but you can do this before the show has started. I'd like to record 3 minutes before AND after the show. Instead TIVO jumps from 2 to 5 minutes after-recording.
4.) Tivo doesn't give you the option to record a minute or two before and after the show for "Tivo suggestion" recordings. I wish it gave you this option. Often Tivo records a suggestion which I like but because there was no pre and post show over-record part of the beginning and/or end is cut off.
5.) I wish Tivo made less noise. When recording etc. it can make some harddrive noise which i just wish was quieter.
overall, even with these complaints, Tivo is still worth the purchase and very satisfying (especially with a VCR handy). But with these fixes it would get a 10.
