"This 2-year old CRT beats most LCDs costing under $1200.00"
Pros: Low Price, Good picture
Cons: no menu button on front panel
Summary: I don't know why CNET knocked this set. When I bought it in January '06 I compared this to the Samsung they said was better, and to my eyes it had a picture that was just as good and (at the time) the price was lower. I recently bought a 42" JVC LCD (LT-42X688, $1193.00) that had moss crawl (pixelation) in shadow areas, up converted EVERYTHING to 1080P (couldn't turn that feature off) causing non-HD digital channels to have all sorts of artifact distortions from the up-convert. I'm taking the JVC back, and sticking with the Insignia for at least another 2-years until I can get a 40+ inch under $1300.00 (not on sale) LCD that won't distort non-HD signals with conversion artifacts.
