"The Panasonic won in my book..." on by jobrien13

Pros: Very good/attractive price, crystal clear picture with digital and HD, nice picture even with analog cable signal

Cons: A little difficult to fine tune colors, heavy, silver casing, weaker sound quality

Summary: It came down between this Panasonic and the Sony KV-34HS420. I was considering a 30' widescreen Sony CRT but then decided that I needed a bigger set after all...

Side by side in the store, it was clear that in HD both the Sony and the Panasonic had comparible pictures. It could be said that maybe just MAYBE the Sony might have eeked out the Panasonic in HD mode. However, after standing there a bit, it was apparent that they were the same or practically the same. However, once I compared the 2 TVs with the analog cable signal, it was no comparison.

The Panasonic was much clearer than the grainy Sony was with the analog cable signal. I have digital sattelite and HD, so I don't have to worry about that but it makes sense that if the Panasonic can offer a better picture with analog AND it is the same or better with the HD and digital signals, then... why not go for the Panasonic?

The Panasonic was also about $80 cheaper than the Sony AND the 5 yr extended warranty, which I opted for, was $250 instead of the $350 they wanted for the Sony. When I asked why this was, the manager told me it was due to parts prices for the Sony.

The obvious short-coming with the Panasonic that was immediately noticable as compared to the Sony was its sound quality. The Panasonic did not hold a candle to the Sony's output. However, now that I have the Panasonic home and set up, the sound is just fine for the area the TV is used. Plus, when I watch DVDs, I have the sound pumping through my receiver anyway.

The 30' Sony CRT widescreen got top billings at one point in Consumer Reports. However, I've never been a big fan of Sony, so being able to purchase the Panasonic made me happy. The Panasonic is the newer of the 2 sets but I think it's a great buy for the money. I think I will be happy with this purchase for a long time to come.

"Quality T.V-You wont be sorry" on by an414666

Pros: Picture quality, Sound, Easy to navigate, Style

Cons: Weight of T.V about 160lbs. But I'v been told the heavier the T.V the better the quality.

Summary: I am very particular about what I buy and how much I will pay for it. This T.V not only fit within my buget $950.00 + $200.00 for 5 year extended warrantee but the picture quality floored me. I really wanted an LCD T.V because there lightweight and you can manuever them easily but since I was putting the T.V in an entertainment center I chose to go with a CRT. I compared the picture quality of the panasonic in question against every other T.V in P.C Richards and this T.V beat them all including the price.
HD is up and coming and as more stations start to broadcast in HD the cheaper the T.V's will be but for now if you must get a new T.V you will be better off to get one that is HD ready and if this T.V fits your space and your budget do not hesitate to purchase it.

"Great buy would do again thank you Panasonic" on by Mark H

Pros: Great look Great picture Great price

Cons: The menu and remote look cheap

Summary: Great TV. Went through a Sony 34xbr960 and a Sharp 32 Aquos. Sony broke after week and Sharp wouldn't work with my receiver. So i got this one wish i did from the start. In no way is there a $600.00 diff in picture quality maybe not even 20.00 dollar diff. Buy the panasonic if you are looking. If you want the more expensive one buy the sharp the sony if you read all the reviews on it like 1 in 3 breaks...

"Great T.V. Picture stunning" on by aber_ac

    Pros: great picture and value

Cons: heavy and hard to manuver

Summary: This T.V. looks amazing with an HDMI DVD player. I also have it hooked up to a Panasonic home theater. Movies on this setup look and sound amazing. I'm looking to buy a 30" for my bedroom. A great buy.
