"My first and last HDTV, I'm in love" on by jagged59

Pros: Connections, picture, sound , cabinet, tired and true CRT,AVL,and lots more

Cons: (CRT) only because of it's weight (130 lbs) and size

Summary: Thanks for putting the a/v plugs on the side and the back, and the smart buttons on the top. I call myself doing my homework on HDTV's within my own parameters, and I came up with a "Winner"! Multiple jacks, proven CRT tube which is tried and true (no burn in) and with the QAM tuner and PIP (picture n picture) and 30" flat widescreen, what else could I ask for.To be able to watch 2 programs side by side, great for football season, and I got it at a really great price at Best Buy with additional savings coupons and 'Reward Zone'. My last tv was a floor model Magnavox w/PIP (blk & white) it lasted for more than 18 yrs, hopefully this will be the last tv I buy for my living space. I'm watching more tv than ever with a big smile, nothing else compares to HDTV picture quality, better get yours, analog will be outdated by '08-'09 or sooner, check the FCC out.

"great Hi-Def for 600 bucks" on by madmadworld

    Pros: great Hi-Def picture

    Cons: fair anlog picture

Summary: had this set 4 months now.
bought it mostly to see if i wanted to spend thousands on this new Hi-Def TV stuff.
got it hooked up to a good outside antenna. and started watching pbs, wow it looked great. i was hooked. (started looking for the big screen)
my old directv box did not look so good. upgraded to the Hi-Def h-20 box big difference.
went out and got a cheap upscaling dvd player toshibia sd-4980. it was better than my old one. so it was dvd ready now.
well that's the good news. i tried a couple vcr's on it. panasonic pv-vs 4821 , jvc hr-s9600u. what can i say it looked pretty bad.
i have a new mitsubishi wd-62827 and it is about the same on it.
so folks these new Hi-Def sets are just that Hi-Def sets not so much for anlog recordings.
for the money this TV is a great value.

"For $599.00 an excellent buy" on by Kronwall

Pros: Price Color Ease of use

    Cons: It is heavy

Summary: I have had this set for a month. I purchased it from Best Buy for $599.00. I am very happy with it. The HD is excellent supplied by Verison FIOS. I have seen some of the other negative reviews but I have not had any problems. The picture is excellent.

"I like to watch this tv" on by a_smithphoto

    Pros: Good picture

Cons: no rca audio out, AVL resets when the tv is shut off

Summary: I bought this TV brand new from Best Buy, had th guys put it in the back of the truck, then when I got it home that's when the fun started! You have to take the box off of the tv, not take it out of the box. Then you have to put it on something sturdy that won't break under the pressure. This TV is very heavy, but once it is set so are you, that is once you plug in the antenna and aim it.

I have really enjoyed this tv, best tv, I recomend the tube even if you do not buy a philips. It's half the price of an lcd and looks about as good as a plasma.

The only thing missing is a more common type of audio output. This tv only has a S/PDIF out, no RCA output at all, so you can't hook it up to an afforable dvd home theater (all in one box type)

"A good, capable HDTV for a budget price." on by Brother Panda

Pros: Bright clear screen, booming sound, HDMI, low price.

Cons: No audio out, quite heavy (120 pounds.)

Summary: I spent a long time looking at different HDTVs for my apartment. I first bought an Insignia, but I wasn't pleased with the picture so I took it back and got the Philips instead. When I got the TV home and hooked it up, I was impressed. HD signals look crisp and vibrant, and the progressive scan display eliminates flickering images. It also has component and HDMI for those who are looking for an inexpensive TV to play Xbox 360 or Playstation 3 on.
Overall, I rate this TV as excellent because it does what it says it can. You could pay over $1000 to buy a thinner, lighter weight TV, or you can pay half that for a TV that has all the same features, and an excellent picture quality.
