"Not bad, but not good for black & white tv or black & white movies."
Pros: Slim depth.
Cons: Black & White viewing is impaired with BLUE color in it!!!
Summary: The unit as a whole is not entirely bad, if your viewing requirements are not really high. For one thing, there is a slight "bowing" issue at the bottom of the screen, most noticeable on subtitles and text that might run at the bottom of the screen. Also, viewing in BLACK & WHITE is really bad. If you are an avid BLACK & WHITE film fan (as I am), you will definitely be disappointed. I first purchased a TXR3079, but after experiencing BLUE color whenever viewing in BLACK & WHITE, I exchanged it for an identical new model. The problem existed in that as well, even though in a different location on the screen, so back it went for another exchange. Noticing the problem yet again, I exchanged it a third time, but this time for a TXR3080 to see if the problem could be eliminated by purchasing a slightly different model of the same series. (The TXR3080 is essentially identical to the TXR3079...the substantial difference being the speakers are positioned at the bottom of the screen instead of on the sides.) Unfortunately, the problem existed in every unit I tried, at slightly different screen locations in each. It is such a blatantly obvious flaw and, for me, painfully disappointing because it really detracts from the pleasure of viewing in BLACK & WHITE. The problem seems to be the absence of appropriate magnets within the unit that would pull BLUE color out of WHITE. You NEVER really see clear WHITE due to splotches of BLUE. I would have returned the unit for a full refund if I could have, but I'm stuck with it now. And the BLUE concentration is apparent when viewing in COLOR as well, whenever there's a lighter color area that should be white or background, it's always a splotchy BLUE.
There are other issues as well, such as the absence of extra outputs for AUDIO. The inputs and outputs that are available are also somewhat wobbly and vulnerable to being completely pulled out of their sockets, so be very careful when disconnecting cables!
I could go on about a few other issues, but as a whole, for a thousand dollars (including tax and delivery), I think SAMSUNG should have done a little more work on this model series before releasing it for general sale.
