"Great for DVD, good for analog cable"
Pros: Lots of inputs, vivid colors
Cons: Heavy, questionable color decoding, anemic audio output, no input memory feature
Summary: With the factory settings, I was very disappointed with the picture from both DVD and analog cable. There was a grain/haze over everything. After twiddling the settings, I was able to get a good picture from both sources. I recommend the "Pro" picture mode; it seems with this TV that the less processing done to the picture, the better. Also, set your DVD to 16:9 mode to take advantage of the vertical compression feature (though you may have to change it back for pan-and-scan DVDs).
I have been disappointed with the color decoding, especially with flesh tones. The TV has a tendency to render skin as rather pinkish. Backing off the color intensity mitigates this effect somewhat, but at the expense of the overall picture quality. CNET's review implies that they were able to correct this by calibrating the picture; I'd sure like to hear how that was done.
Note that I do not have an HD source (yet), so I cannot comment on the quality of the HD picture.
My other complaint deals with the low output level that comes from the TV's audio output jacks. I run the TV sound through my stereo, and I have to crank the volume on my preamp just to get the TV to an audible level. (Note that I use the "variable" audio setting; it is possible that "fixed" would not have this problem.)
