"Unstable, difficult to configure, and support will cost more than the program"

Pros: Should be the all in one scanning filing solution

Cons: Does not work. Expensive support.
Summary: Bought PP11 because of some nice features--auto straighten, auto orientation, and if you own Omnipage the ability to save searchable pdf files. Although my scanner was in its "scanner database" and my OS Windows 2000 was supported it would not use my automatic document feeder. Finding a workaround for that took several hours, but the worst problem was the very frequent locking up of the program, which rendered my scanner inacessible to Paperport or any other application. Closing Paperport with Task Manager was not sufficient, sometimes even rebooting the computer would not revive my scanner. Reinstalling the program, the latest versions of my scanner drivers etc would only bring temporary resolution. Support by email costs $9.95 per incident and telephone is about 1/3 of the product price. The free support database is very simplistic if you are having a problem that your grandmother couldn't solve you are pretty much out of luck. They do not maintain a current compatible hardware database so if you plan to buy it make sure you can return it when it does't work with your equipment. Odds are it will not.

I am not happy to see that someone else is experiencing the same problems with PaperPort 11 as I am, but I now know that it is not me but the program. But in all fairness, after you register the program, Nuance does offer FREE support. I have written customer support stating the above and will see what comes of this.

This must be the worst version yet! I've been with Paperport through many version. When I get it to load the indexing has spend days indexing, then never finding anything that I'm search for and now it fails to load, will not reinstall. The Naunce help forum will not load. I'm ready to jump ship.
