"Could be a 10 if it were faster"
Pros: Very reliable connection, consistent D/L and U/L speeds, cheap, & fairly good customer service.
Cons: Not so good tech support (average) & transfer speeds slow vs. some cable connections
Summary: I've had various cable and DSL services over the years, and so far SBC has really been the best. I can't even remember the last time my SBC DSL connection went down. Not to mention the fact that my connection speed and transfer rates are extremely consistent regardless of what time of the day I'm on the internet.
Unfortunately, while the speeds are reliable, they are somewhat slow. And honestly, with a 1.5mb/385k connection - it's almost too slow for my needs. But it's either DSL, or go with the unreliable cable provider in my area. Sure, they offer 4/5mb speeds, but who knows if/when you'll get these advertised rates, or how long. And even if cable was more reliable, it's still hard to justify going from $15-20/mo to $50-60/mo.
If SBC would at least offer a 3mb connection in my area, or speed up the fiber upgrades I keep hearing about, they would most likely get a 10 rating. Fast, reliable, perfect.
