"Slowly died over about 6 months use"
Pros: Looks nice in my Aluminum case. When it works, it works well.
Cons: When I first got it, the DRU-510A worked fine. I paid more for it than I would for a comparable drive because I trusted the Sony name, and the asthetics worked well with the Aluminum case I outfitting. However I soon found that I prefered using the CD-R

Pros: Installed fine and would play and record CDs great. But that isn't what I bought it for.
Cons: I could live with the poor software but: The drive would not play or record DVDs. Not even the program disk that came with it. After many calls with the Sony help it still would not work. They had me: 1) Change the unit to Master on its own IDE ribbon
