Pros: it makes good copies of music cd's and for making backups of my files and software too. the software that comes with it makes GREAT photo slide shows if your into that kind of thing.
Cons: it won't copy dvd movies, that was disappointing to me. and it takes so long to put home video's on dvd. either my system is slow or its the drive but it takes up to 8hrs to do a 1hrs worth of videos on dvd+r.

"Great product! Guarantee pleasure!"
Pros: Great all around burner. Good price too! I don't know about oher people but i've used all types of media on this burner with 100% success! i recently bought a pioneer dvr-108 cause sites claimed it burned cheap media. Big mistake! Stick with the HP!
Cons: Haven't found any yet!

"Moderate Drive, Poor Softwre"
Pros: It works, but many cheaper drives do the job just as well.
Cons: Problems with reading of DVD-VR (f.i. from Philips DVD-recorder) Cannot read -R(W) properly Burned video's will not be playable on several DVD players

"Wont read "black" media. No firmware upgrade."
Pros: So far this is quite an acceptable unit in terms of hardware. Except for the lack of firmware support.
Cons: Dont even bother with the bogus software. HP should have put their software investment into firmware. Poor firmware support.
