"Two trips back for warranty service and still doesn't work"

Cons: Doesn't work
Summary: I've spent more money making expensive dual-layer toasters than I spent on the DVD burner itself. I've had consist failure rates of about 80 percent when burning dual-layer DVDs on both OS X and WinXP machines using various burn apps and various brands of blank discs. The failure rate for standard DVDs was approximately 50 percent -- again, this holds true on Windows and OS X.
I sent the burner back to the factory for warranty service and they returned it with absolutely nothing fixed. A second return to the factory gained an acknowledgment of the problem, a mumbled apology and a promise of a replacement DVD burner. LaCie returned to me an obviously used, scratched and slightly dented DVD burner, that, you guessed, it, still did not work right -- with failure rates across the board of about 30 percent on every computer (both Mac and Win) I've tried.
I've owned and used several good DVD burners, and this, without question is the worst of the lot.
The burner is now somewhere at the landfill where it belongs, and LaCie has permanently lost a customer.
