Pros: Fast, accurate, quiet
Cons: Died after 9 months of light use
Summary: I should have read the opinions before I paid for this drive. I have the same complaint as many others - after a while the unit stopped reading/burning DVD's. Now, will not even recognize a disk in the drive. Makes an expensive doorstop. Is this the "Old Sony" planned obsolesence from the 1970's-1980's?

Pros: No pros - except remote easy to use
Cons: 1st unit failed 1/2 way thru a burn.
2nd unit would not recognize any blank DVD at all.
3rd unit made 1 copy then refused to make anything over 20 minutes, and would not finalize the disk.
Gave up.Summary: Go elsewhere

Pros: haven't had any coasters that weren't my fault
Cons: burns a bit slow at an average of 15 mintues, but it is only a 4X burner...
Summary: This is my first burner. I've had it for about a year. I've burned about 300 discs and never had one coaster that wasn't my own screw up. I really don't have any complaints at all. It's career will probably be over in the next few months. It won't read some discs now, but I've since realized that I can read much faster with my DVD rom now. You really shouldn't be reading with burners anyway...
I think it's gonna die soon, but I've burned a ton of discs with it, so I won't be disappointed if it does die. -

Pros: Very reliable!
Cons: A bit slow given the speeds now available.
Summary: I am shocked at all the negative comments on this burner. I have had mine since Oct. 2003 and I have a pile of awesome DVD's! No problems whatsoever with this burner!

"Burn easy and cheap" on
Pros: Easy to use, no special tools for hookup. Dropped in hooked up loaded software started burning. Gets no simpler.
