  • "Great DVD Burner"
    on by saketkumar

Pros Nice DVD burner with good nero desktop software. Additional black face plate was useful.

    Cons Can't think of any.

Summary It's a great DVD burner at affordable price. I wanted to have affordable external DVD burner, so bought this unit and external drive enclosure. It comes with additional black face plate, which was useful because my exclosure was of black color.

Overall no complain yet. Nero software provides all necessary functionality for DVD burning.

  • "Highly recommended burner"
    on by clokverkorange

    Pros included black faceplate option,

Cons firmware updates are tricky, limited documentation, included software is mediore by today's standards

Summary I have had this drive for almost 2 years now (I purchased it overseas in Singapore, new in the box) and have had zero concerns with it since day one. It went straight into the system I was using at the time and has since moved through two other self-build computers. This drive can handle anything you throw at it and has burned everything I've asked of it with almost no errors. Just to test it, I tried burning a CD while doing 6-7 other things, and on playback I noticed a few garbled points. However, this is an extreme test, and the burner holds up exceedingly well under normal use.

What I would have liked to see with this is perhaps another faceplate option (or a line of them available for purchase), but that's a minor concern. Including a black option was a stroke of genius by Sony.

Until Blu-Ray burners and media come down to the sub-$100 price point, I will continue to recommend this particular burner to anyone looking for a burning solution.

  • "This is a great burner!"
    on by dedphish

    Pros Cheap price,great included software.

    Cons It doesnt install itself!

Summary I keep this drive spinning almost constantly as my media mover/reader,main cd/dvd source for music, games, dvd movie viewing and backing up my over 500 DVD collection.I've had zero problems after 1 month of use.It runs as noise free as the day I installed it.I dont know the life span of these units but if it went out right now I'd go buy another,my OEM went out after 3 weeks(expected),I'm that pleased and have used it that much!!!!!

  • "Great burner, no problems at all"
    on by Ron&Hillery

Pros Does everything I need it to do

    Cons None, really

Summary I have owned this unit for 6 months and it has never given me any cause to doubt it's abilities. I like the Nero 6.0 OEM package it comes supplied with, much better than the software of one of it's predecessors, the 510A I used to own. This unit will burn just about anything thrown at it and has the Nero CD-DVD speed disk quality scores to back it up.

  • "Multiformat and DL Easy to Use"
    on by averso

Pros Quiet. Dependable. Easy to use

Cons Needs update to Nero software

Summary For the price, can't go wrong. Has everything you need and can write or read using practically all formats.
