Pros 8 MB buffer makes underruns almost impossible. Reasonably fast, highly dependable across many brands & speeds of media.
Cons Not the fastest drive around.
Summary Benchmark tests might be useful for putting certificates on the wall, but what really counts to me is usable results out the door, and in that category this drive excels. I don't know why other drive manufacturers don't use the simple brute force hardware approach of using an 8 MB buffer, but the this drive can outlast potential buffer underruns that would kill burning projects on other drives. I've tried several burners, and this is the one I use for dependable results. Click once and the burning job is done, and that means useful results out the door and no wasted media.
Pros None that I can think of
Cons NO SUPPORT if you have a problum with the drive, remove it and chuck at trash can
Summary It sucks that Sony has no support or info for this drive on there website
Pros Excellent track record, no coasters, works with Nero
Cons Older model. Faster drives are now available
Summary This is a rock solid drive. I have two that I have been using in two Windows XP machines on cheap media and they have worked flawlessly. The review stating that the drive is not compatable with Windows is plainly incorrect.
