"Easy to use"
4.5 starson by o2setupPros: My 9 year old can use this.I been backing up all my mini dv types with no problems at all I had it set to HQ and the pictures are great on my 51 inch.
Cons: None yet.I just wish I had a DV cable.
Summary: If you got a lot of old vhs or any other cam-corder media its well worth the money you will save hundreds doing it your self.I got it at Buy.com shop around you don't have to pay $299.00.Have fun I am.

I bought this device and am NOT happy about it because, the quality of the DVd is not the same as the master(on my mini DV tape).
It is copletely degraded, I have tried different media (memorex, sony, HP) and different modes (HQ, SLP, SP). Anybody else that has noticed the degradation? BTW, I have tried all options, usb, firewire, analog going straint to the recorder (vdr vc20) from my mini dv camcorder and the result is the same. The quality cannot be compromised against the time to record.
The only plus - saves time, who cares - quality is more important, right ? Poor quality from a big manufacturer like SONY, sorry!

I was one of the first to purchase this item. I was very excited with what it said could be accomplished. When I finally received it, I immediately attempted to copy my two VHS Tapes of my Wedding utilizing DVD+R Media THREE (3) Times, and each time the Media cannot be Read by my SONY DVD Player or anyother DVD Player. I followed the Manual explicitly to the letter ALL THREE TIMES, and still it would not Play. I am currently waiting to hear from SONY SUPPORT. If they can fix the problem I will retract this. Signed TOTALLY TICKED-OFF AND DISSATISFIED...
