"You want great picture?? This is the DVD player for you!!"
Pros: Fantastic picture, very easy to use, looks awesome
Cons: Expensive, SACD confusing
Summary: To begin, this is my first DVD player. My Dad has one but it is a cheaper Sony player, nothing compared to a Denon. Right out of the box, the machine worked perfectly. I was really impressed with the ease of use. It was very easy to setup (I use HDMI cable) and took maybe 3 minutes to toggle through all the settings to achieve the best picture/sound. When playing in 1080i format, the picture is absolutely breathtaking. If you don't mind spending the $700 this unit costs, trust me you will not be disappointed. I also recommend going with the silver color. It adds a different flare to your home theater setup and it is much better than boring old black.
As for the cons, it is $700, not cheap by any means. I bought it (I am 20 years old) because I wanted a player that would last me a looooong time. I didn't mind spending the extra money now to get something that will last me a good 10+ years. Yeah they are coming out with new DVD players that output video in 1080p, but will it be worth the $1200+ price tag? Will the picture be THAT much better? The only other thing I am having trouble with is the SACD setup. I seem to only be able to play SACD's in 2.1 instead of 5.1. I am not sure if this is because of a setting in the DVD player or receiver (Denon 2805) that I have not switched on yet, but no matter what I try it will not work. Nevertheless I couldn't be happier with the unit. BUY, BUY, BUY!!
