"Thought it was good until it died..." on by pomerov
Pros: Upscales to many output resolutions. Region free
Cons: Reliability free. Unreliable power supply.
Summary: Bought mine second-hand from the UK at half price. Thought I was getting a bargain. And I suppose I was for the first two months. SuperBit DVDs looked HD quality on it. Then it went into a coma (dim red glow from the power button is the only sign of life).
Sending it to the USA for repair was impractical as I'm in Ireland which is too far away. Am selling it on eBay as Faulty. The technical support guy said that it sounded like the power supply was faulty and 'I hope you understand....' Gee thanks guys!
I gather that the newer NeoDigits and Helios units (mine's a Neu Neo) have upgraded capacitors. I wonder why?! -
"Excellent all around DVD/CD player" on by ehellgren
Pros: 1080p via HDMI and component, slim, good features in menu
Cons: Disc tray is to weak, display box a little to small
Summary: I have the Neuneo 2085 now for 5-6 months and have not had any issues and love it. I use it at least 3 times a week and since I upgraded to a TV with HDMI the picture is awsome. Even with component the picture was real good on my older Toshiba 56h80 rear projection TV. I upgraded to Sony 50" LCD rear projection the picture is soo clear with no jiggles, audio sync issues or freezes. I had an older JVC 723 which lost audio sync or got artifacts in the picture from time to time. Even playing music CD's sounds great, much more clear than my older JVC DVD/CD player. I think for $199 you can't beat this player and I could not find any other manufactor that offered same performance or features for $199. I'm not sure why the other guy had customer support issues or even why he wanted to return his but all my emails were answered prior to the purchase and after, just remember the company is based in Japan and it took 2-3 days the get a response. CNet rated the Helios2085 low which has a few more performance enhancements over the Neuneo, not sure if they had a chance to test the Neuneo 2085 but I'm happy with it and refered some friends to Neodigits and they are happy also with there products. The other complaint I have on my Neuneo 2085 is the remote was not backlit and wish it was.

"excellent picture quality" on by tonytrenta
Pros: up scalling through component
Cons: hvd movies not sold here ,not enough of a selection
Summary: I dont think we need blue ray or hd dvd once you see this quality and the price of this dvd player
I compared this to my pansonic 480p using two orginal 2005 king kong dvd .The picture is shaper than the 480p and it should be.
The quality of the hvd that i recieved with my dvd unit is simply breath taking the controls using the remote coudldn't get any easier
the dvd tray is a weak point dont let the children use it will diffently brake
I would recommend this unit for any one that needs a dvd player with up scalling -
"This company sucks in its entirety" on by Tre Clack
Pros: Knowing not to ever do business with them
Cons: That I can't give this company the ZERO they deserve!
Summary: To begin: The fact that this company is still doing business is a bane upon society.
Now, moving on to my complete, %100 unbiased opinion.
This company refused boasts a 14-day return policy on its products. I contacted them within days of my purchase and they REFUSED to take the return. Initially they stalled, saying "we'll get back to you soon, we're really busy right now"; then they flat out stopped responding to email. I ended up filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau (BBB), but there's little they can do because the company is based in Japan.
Plus -and believe it or not, this opinion is unbiased- their products suck. It's nowhere near as good as the Oppo Upscaling player (which is why I wanted to return it in the first place).
If you see the name 'Helios' or 'NeuNeo' on a product...RUN!!! And if you already have one of these products in your home...BURN IT before it harms your family. No, seriously, DESTROY this product.
And that, folks, is my complete, %100, unbiased opinion.
