"Beat out by a $30 DVD Player" on
Pros: Extra large remote so you can easily find it stuck between the couch cushions
Cons: Cannot play DVD+R, DVD+RW, SVCD, HVCD but a $30 player from Wal-Mart can. Good luck trying to find specs on website

"Great and cheap" on
Summary: I got one about 3 weeks ago and paid only $175. But picture is exellent. Not sure about the support yet. I have not had to use it and hope I don't. I use Acoustic Research Master Series component cables to connect it to my new SONY 36XBR800 TV.By the way, the SONY HDTV is spectacular!

"What's goin' on?" on
Summary: After reading the 3 reviews on this site, I ran out and purchased this player. But here's a note to Hitachi 43" HDTV owners... the Hitachi DVP725U DVD player does not work with the TV in progressive scan mode... go figure! This was verified by myself and Future Shop (Best Buy) with two DVD players on 2 separate models of the 43" Hitachi HDTV's (10B and 15B) with 2 different sets of component cables. The picture displays very faint, soft vertical stripes. It is unlikely that anyone could miss seeing them... they are that noticeable. I am uncertain if HDTV's other than the Hitachi models are affected by the vertical stripes? By the way, the Hitachi HDTV is spectacular!

"Outstanding Value and Quality!" on
Summary: I read all the comments about all of the best and decided to buy this one because I had the Hitachi TV. I am very happy I did. The quality is outstanding. I paid $179 for it and feel that I got more than my money's worth. Love it. Not sure about the support yet. I have not had to use it and hope I don't.
