Pros Have had this unit about a year. At first I had my reservations as this unit must be started BEFORE turning on the TV, or all you get out is nothing but video noise. Once we got over this it has been great displaying all its features.
Cons Little help from LG support, a bit hard to initially work with
Summary All in all a pretty good player, but not worth the $$$ cost.
Pros Plays HD-DVD!! I have a few laying around and some are still not on blu ray! Picture is great overall, wait time isn't as bad as I expected!! Also you can get these cheap now!
Cons Still working on how to upconvert my reg. dvd's but they still look good! Maybe I am just spoiled by blu ray now!! Wait time is sorta annoying at first!! Still wondering if its going to have the 2.0 profile, no big deal either way!
Summary Got a great deal on ebay for a brand new one using the live.com cashback and selling my old dvd player, it cost only about $150 all said and done, can't be that and the firmware was a piece of cake to install!
Pros HD-DVD playback/ Blu Ray playback. Great regular DVD upconversion. April firmware update fixed the few flaws the player had.
Cons No Blu Ray Live functionality at this time. (Not an issue at all for me)
Summary I purchased this player for 400.00 from BB back in Sept as they were closing them out. You may still be able to find one for 400 or less at CC depending on where you are. This is a great player especially after the latest firmware updates. It does all the audio codecs and bitstreams them with the update. It also does a great job with regular DVD's. This player does everything and has no drawbacks if Blu Ray live is not important to you (I'm fine without it). I have been able to pick up about 25 HD-DVD's from 1.99 to 8.00 online. The picture quality is great. I have also bought another 10-15 Blu Rays and will buy more as the price continues to fall. If you can find one of these players still out there pick it up right away!I forgot to add that this also will display 24fps when playing an HD or Blu Ray disc with a compatible display.

Pros Plays Blueray and HD DVD, Bitrates HD audio, Fast for a stand alone, Nice astetics.
allows people w/ a large HD DVD libray to play Blue to.
Cons You have to update the firmware to be able to Bitrate HD audio. Slow startup/chapter skips compared to xbox 360/PS3. Becoming difficult to find and the prices are going up.
Summary I had origonaly bought the xbox add on and excluding the inablity to bitrate HD audio to my onkyo 805 receiver, it has been flawless. With the dark knight coming out soon I had the need to buy a blueray player. Found one open box at best buy for 280. I had difficulty udating the firmware as my burner was down and I dont own a usb tumb drive. After a few attempts I was finnaly able to use my phnoe via usb to upgared it. I have only played HD dvd on it but have not had any porblems. Including my 5 import disks from Germany, England, and Japan. Over all a great player especially for those who own 50 + HD DVDs and don't want to waste money rebuying them.
Pros Most of the negatives about this player were addressed with the april firmware update. After trying this unit for several weeks I was impressed enough to sell my Toshiba HD-XA2 and Panasonic DMP-BD30. After 4 months I have not been sorry,
Cons No 24fps output to my Samsung DLP TV. Neither my Toshiba or Panasonic would do 24fps only the Samsung BD-P1400 I had for a short while would but the negatives far outweighed having 24fps output. May be hard to replace if it dies.
Summary Awesome picture quality even without 24fps. Outputs all HD audio formats to my Onkyo TX-SR605. Will do updates over the eithernet port now but it's much easier and faster to download them on my PC, unzip them to a USB flash drive, plug it into the front USB port on the player. So far no disc compatability problems on any disc, HD-DVD, Blu-ray, DVD or any recordable DVD format. I had made a substantial investment in HD-DVD so now I don't have to replace all those discs with blu-ray.
