A frustrating inferior product, don't waste your money.
Pros: Worked well when we first got it Surprised to find that the picture on our old analog set was better when we sent satellite signal through this player's tuner. But...
Cons: Shortly after getting it, we had problems with the unit reading discs...could sometimes get them playing if we re-loaded disc or cleaned it. Still problematic...had success with our initial recording attemps, but unit has failed repeatedly since.
As a result of our troubles, I have no respect for this company's morals and ethics. In my opinion, if you have this unit and experience trouble, you're better off taking a hammer to it and investing in a competitor's product.

Inexpensive but functional
Pros: cheap, uses most media
Cons: takes some time to recognize disc's
For a $99 price plus a $20 rebate, this machine cannot be beat. You do have to finalize a -R disc before playing it on a computer.

Frustrating and a waste of time.
Pros: Cheap, but that's it.
Cons: Built-in programs can prevent you from recording or reading your recorded video.
First problem: I can record from TV shows but then after that I cannot record on the on unused portion anymore, when I tried to record on the unused portion, LiteOn says "Protected Content".
Second Problem: Other DVD recordings I've made with thie LiteOn unit, cannot be played back! LiteOn says: "Invalid Disc"!
Third Problem: LiteOn won't record anything anymore on brand new blank discs! Inserting a new DVD disc, LiteOn will prepare the disck then After going thru the Guider and hitting Go, LiteOn will attempt to record and then suddenly "stop" the recording ans says: "Protected Content". I stopped using this recorder after six or seven tries, I don't want to waste anymore blank DVDs.
