"Not so sure anymore..." on by pegraves
Pros: Looks nice...
Cons: Doesn't play menus correctly
Summary: I have been having trouble getting answers from Pioneer as to why my DV-444 isn't working will all my commercially purchased DVD sets. Specifically, it doesn't play menus with live action in them. I have tried the same DVDs in older pioneer units and they work fine. I don't know if it is a problem with the unit in general or with my particular one. In any case, I am no longer a fan of this unit.

"Very good player with good features" on
Summary: I purchased this DVD player with a receiver and speaker combo and it has proved to be an excellent buy. The progressive scan component output works perfectly with my widescreen Samsung television. Very lifelike picture with no noticeable distortion.

"Stop your search here" on
Summary: After purchasing and returning 3 other DVD/CD players in the previous month. I read all the reviews on this model and VCDhelp.com and decided to take the plunge. The sound quality is excellent as is the video. Someone in a review I read had mentioned the progressive scan being digital rather than 3:2 pulldown was a problem, but on my 50" plasma, I found it better than a previous unit which had 3:2 pulldown. I would highly recommend this unit.
