"Good price, good value"
Pros: HDMI input cable included
Cons: Couldn't really tell a difference
Summary: We have an old RCA DVD player that is not progressive scan, but does have the composite inputs. We just bought a 51"Hitachie wide screen tv. I wanted to take advanatage of the HDMI. Well I hooked it up and put in Shrek in the old one and played it for 5 minutes. I did the same thing in the Samsung. I could not tell the difference. I am thinking about taking it back.

I have noticed a similar phenomenon on my setup. My DVD is hooked up with component progressive scan and composite. When I toggle back and forth on my 42"HD plasma I can't see any difference. Only on a special test-setup DVD can I see any difference and it is so subtle. It really makes me wonder what all the hoopla is about for HDMI other than copy protection.
