"Excellent quality picture for the money"5.0 starson by Sniper X
Pros: Picture quality, ease of menu setup
Cons: I found nothing about this unit that was bad
Summary: OK, you can totally disregard those negative opinions because they either didn't set this unit up right, or didn't have a monitor or TV capable of displaying the resolution it is capable of, or both. I am a video and film industry engineer and production specialist. I do it for a living and have been for 30 years. I can tell you that I have tested this little consumer player on everything from a HD Home theatre projector, all the way up to a broadcast grade 26in diag monitor that costs over 10K. On everything from a CRT HDTV to the very high end Panasonic TH65PF9UK plasma to the 26in broadcast engineering monitor the picture looks darn near Blue Ray or HD DVD quality. The differences are so slight that you would have to see the picture side by side when set up right to see the difference. It also is robust enough to be in my home environment with my 2 year old son, the 6 year old son, and the 18 year old son! I say if you are going to buy such an interim device it be this and forget about anything top of the line because by the time you decide you want higher quality a blue ray will be in your future.
