"Honest review from former Verizon customer."
Pros: high quality camera and camcorder. High Res screens. GPS map feature. Full access to Internet and Power Visions content everywhere on the Sprint network. Loads of TV and radio channels.
Cons: charger port is annoying, and batter life is only around three hours.
Summary: Up until recently I was a Verizon Wireless customer. I purchased the LG VX9800 thinking VCast would be this great new feature. It was not at all. VCast only works on the EV-DO network. Which is patchy in my area. Sprint's EV-DO features work everywhere on Sprint's network. The speeds are just slower on the 1X. Sprint also does not limit their Internet access. The Verizon X9800 like every other phone except for Verizon's PDA's has really no access to the Internet. Just stupid, limited WAP access. This phone, the Sam MMA900 can load most web sites. I have also found tons and tons of Java content on Sprintusers.com . Verizon's BREW is crap. I really mean basically crap! Verizon offers nothing good, and there is no such things a free BREW. Anything used on a Verizon phone, has to be purchased from Verizon. Java is literary all over the place. I can download it through file sharing programs, buy Java content CD's off of Ebay, download Java from developers web sites, everywhere!
Verizon offers nothing in the way of add-ons. You can get the basics and that is it. Sprint has a whole page with nothing but plan add-ons.
I was thinking about buying the Treo 700, but Verizon wanted forty dollars for access. Sprint says it is only ten and fifthteen dollars.
Verizon has fallen so far behind the times. They force their customer to buy limited BREW software and have only WAP Internet access. Verizon is also limiting MP3 playback on their new MP3 phones.
Sprint said they would never do that.
Sprint's voice sounds exactly the same as Verizon. They both sound just like you are talking on a landlines. Cingular and T-Mobile make you sound like robots.
I quit Verizon and am now with Sprint. I held out hoping VCast would bring new things but it didn't. I am now very happy with Sprint.
This is an honest review from a former Verizon, now current Sprint customer. I made this review just to help others out. Not to push an agenda.

Can you turn the blinking LED light off? I have a phone that has it on the front of my phone, and its annoying as hell. Its green and then when something happens on the phone it turns red. Thanks in advance.

I am a current Sprint customer, who switched from AT&T before the Cingular merger. I left AT&T because support from India was pitiful at best and offensive to USA. As I used Sprint during the months, I quickly looked forward to the day we could leave Sprint and move to Verizon wireless. In my area, everyone has great performance from Verizon. I borrowed a Verizon phone and had great performance using it. I watched the signal strength of both phones and it was Verizon that had th ebest signal strength. Sprint has many dropouts and does not transition between towers well as you drive down the road. My phone often switches into Analog roaming mode indicating that a Sprint tower is not within reach. I can open and close the device several times without moving a step and it will eventually find the digital tower. However, the frequent dropped calls while driving and even while stationary are the most irratating features of their "service offering, or lack thereof".

Since so many users found the review helpful, I couln't help but click to see what lexdavisboxer wrote about. Looks like this person is very badly upset about his experience with Verizon. I didn't get any idea of what this person anted to say. Should I believe any more of his opinions?

Im a t-mobile-x verzion customer.fist of all this is not a downing of verzion these are the pure facts.this phone rocks.
I sold my treo 700 verzion getting ready for the treo700p sprint release for the 28th of march today.I picked up sprint evdo service getting the samsung A700 phone as a temp.I love this phone!!!!high speed EVDO on top of sprint TV/internet for 20.00$ it,s outstanding.i may end up keeping this phone getting the treo700p haveing 2 numbers with sprint now.props to sprint.outstanding phone,s/pda,s with EVDO with all the extras.the only way you can go wrong with sprint is there customer care so they are not the best but what cell company is. -
i think you should spend some more time with this phone. You went on and on about verizon's lg vx9800 but not sprint's mm a900. Maybe you should stop talking so much about verizon's internet access. I am a verizon customer but like you; i am not happy with them. I'm not trying to back them up im just saying you should give some more detail on this phone for future buyers.

About three years ago, I left Cingular because I thought their phones were really out of date. I switched to Verizon Wireless because of their family plan, and my whole family swithed because our calls would not count towards our minutes. Now, I am not really impressed with Verizon's technology, or how they limit the functionality of their poor selection of phones. The best phone I have seen from them in a while is the Nokia 6256i, but it has limited availability and is not listed on their website. A lot of people seem to want the same things: good coverage, a decent camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, some Internet, games, Phone Book (etc), MP3, I would add FM radio, all in a small footprint phone. I agree with you that BREW does not offer much in the way of add on programs. I have the v710 (till June), and I have always missed the ability to add addresses to my phone book. I have looked on Get it Now for some kind of software add on to give me that feature, but all they have are games (I have a lot of those now). Verizon Wireless does not seem to respond to market pressures. I won't change carriers again, I like my phone number and my family will not all change with me. The good part of that is, I no longer spend a lot of money on what I think is cool phone technology, I just keep the same old phone a long time.

one you look at both company's side by side you then see sprint has the better deals. i was really disappointed when i found out vcast would not work all over verizons network... how can sprint allow it and verizon not? i'm going to post a review as well since i am now using this phone and sprint full time.
