"Awesome picture for anyone with a 4x3 TV" on
Summary: The player is fast loading, Constructed well and shows a nice picture. This Player is designed for people with 4x3 TV's like my self. It has a great interlaced image with no edge enhancement at all. The price to pay is sharpness however. It you are coming from having a JVC or Panasonic that show a really crisp(although maybe edgy) picture you will notice it right away. It can not be fixed. I turned up the sharpness ont the Player and the TV to there max and I was still seeing a single green colored Shrek and Yoda. If you don't mind a lightly blurred picture when Watching your Crystal clear DVD's then get it. Otherwise get the GOD-LIKE JVC XV-S502SL. You will not be dissapointed. I love the JVC and will never find an equal to it.

"Really Really Good If You Want Something Basic..." on by zuelquorneen
Pros: Price is right and it performs well, takes any format i've put in
Cons: A little noisy and too basic for many
Summary: I originally would give this an 8. It lost marks for being so basic and being a little noisy. I gave it an extra point though, because I can put anything in this machine and it works. My PC plays almost anything in it's two DVD players and it's pretty bad if it rejects it, whether it be from format issues or abuse. This machine will play most of those rejected discs.

"Great Basic DVD Player!!!" on
Summary: I needed a basic DVD player to go with my non-HDTV and I caught a great sale with the Sony 315. So far it has not failed to load any disc I put into it and the picture is splendid. I found the on-screen menu a wee bit cumbersome but nothing I couldn't muddle through. The remote could be styled a bit better as well, as a few of the buttons aren't in the most convenient places.

"Very Good For the Money" on
Summary: This is a great DVD player for the money. If you do not need progressive scan (all non-HDTV owners) then this is for you. DVDs load very quickly. Plays DVD/VCD/MP3 (including CDR & CDRW discs). DTS & Dolby 5.1 outputs, however, it does not have an optical TOSLINK interface! SPDIF coaxial only. This could be a problem as most Home Theater systems have more optical inputs than coax. Including my Sony reciever!!! This can be overcome by purchasing a SPDIF to TOSLINK converter. Buy this DVD if you want Sony quality and don't have a TV that is progressive scan input capability.

"Just buy this Sony." on
Summary: I bought a made-in-China Samsung and was disappointed by the exterior finish and the on-screen menu (It only displays 8 characters of the filenames in a MP3 disc). Returned that and got the NS315 which looks better, the picture quality is good and the menu is great (it displays the full filenames of the MP3 songs).
