Summary i used to like sony, but after this.....
it skips and jerks on even new dvd's not just old beat up ones -

Summary This unit replaced another Sony entry level, sub $100 DVD player I had purchased. Both died after about a year. Disc would spin up, but would no longer read. I would definitely stay clear of Sony at this price point based on my experience with these two units.

Cons DVD playback on DVD-R's is sub-standard with many freezes and studders while other players work flawlessly. Will never buy Sony again.Also does not support MP3Pro format.

onPros Numerous tweaking features given the low price of the player.
Cons Picture quality is not up to standards. My old Pioneer DV-414 player has better black levels than this player. Also my animated movies have a serious chroma flaw in some scenes. This is definitely a basic player for those who don't care much for better

Cons Having trouble playing a few DVD-R movies. Other makes/models (and my PC) can play these movies but I get the "Cannot play this disk" Not sure why yet
