it skips and jerks on even new dvd's not just old beat up ones -

Pros: Cheap, slim
Cons: Trouble reading some discs, remote is horrible
Summary: This unit replaced another Sony entry level, sub $100 DVD player I had purchased. Both died after about a year. Disc would spin up, but would no longer read. I would definitely stay clear of Sony at this price point based on my experience with these two units.

"Low Compatability with DVD-R's" on
Pros: None
Cons: DVD playback on DVD-R's is sub-standard with many freezes and studders while other players work flawlessly. Will never buy Sony again.Also does not support MP3Pro format.

"Picture Quality is sub-par" on
Pros: Numerous tweaking features given the low price of the player.
Cons: Picture quality is not up to standards. My old Pioneer DV-414 player has better black levels than this player. Also my animated movies have a serious chroma flaw in some scenes. This is definitely a basic player for those who don't care much for better

"DVD-R's" on
Pros: Easy to use/setup
Cons: Having trouble playing a few DVD-R movies. Other makes/models (and my PC) can play these movies but I get the "Cannot play this disk" Not sure why yet
