"OK for the money. Error in CNET Specs." on by jmm50000

Pros: Played Netflix disc my 5-plus-year-old player would not. Fairly east set-up. Connector cables sufficient length. Batteries for the remote included.

Cons: Specs indicated a 4-pin DIN S-Video Out connection. This unit does NOT have such a connection. You will need to use the component video connectors which are not as good as S-Video.

Summary: I got this player because my older player was not playing many discs I got from Netflix and the library. This player did play the disc from Netflix that prompted the purchase. I have not had it long enough to determine if it will play all such discs. Discovering the specs were incorrect and finding no S-Video Out (4-pin DIN) connection was a disappointment. But as long as it plays most discs, I'll be happy.

"A real workhorse!" on by CookieVonB

    Pros: several features for playback
played purchased disks and home-made disks.
    plug and go

Cons: They don't make it anymore!

Summary: I bought this machine 5 years ago and put it into nearly constant, daily use. Literally, it played disks for 18-24 hours a day at least 300-325 days a year for 5 years. And I had NO PROBLEMS. I'm sorry the other reviewers didn't get the same machine I got. I wish they still made it, I'd buy it again in a heartbeat! I can only hope to find a replacement that will give me nearly as awesome a performance as this one had. It wasn't even upsetting when it stopped working because it had been so awesome.

"Terrible, Terrible, Terrible, I hate this DVD player." on by icymic

Pros: None at all. Complete Fraud!!!!!!

Cons: I DOES NOT WORK 10% of the time. Its a rip off. And Its Brand new. we had it for 7 months and just decided to use it. My X Box, not the 360 plays any DVD.

Summary: This is the second Sony DVD player that I've purchased only because of it's Sony and the first one had the same problem. I lost the receipt so there's no way of getting my money back. It won't even play brand new DVDs. It picks and chooses which ones it will play. So if any one is reading this, please save your money, and buy and old XBOX to play your DVDs on. Really disappointed in Sony.

"Region 1 and Region 0 Built-in DVD players better" on by Lynne2009

    Pros: None cannot recommend

Cons: Region 1 code only - some of the players break down quickly and don't read the discs.

Summary: This DVD player lasted only three months for me - will not read the disc now. I did not get the extended warranty because I felt if there was problem it would happen right away. I was wrong. Since just a few disc play - it might have something do with the Region 1 code only and the copyright protection codes causing compatibility issues. I have read problems with other DVD units attached as external devices too. My best results have been with my Computer built-in DVD player and TV built-in DVD player that play both Region 1 and Region 0 discs. Very disappointed and won't buy another DVD external device until the bugs are all worked out - and will make sure that it accepts both Region 1 and Region 0 discs. I thought this would work out due to the good reviews but I am sorry to be one of the ones that have the problematic DVD player.
