  • "it DOES have aspect ratio control"
    on by GoofyG28

    Pros everything!

Cons sometimes it lags when switching between layers (quick pause, sometimes up to 2 seconds)

Summary I thought it didn't have any aspect ratio control, either, until I got frustrated because I just got an Olevia 32" LCD TV, and I thought the 16:9 view on my TV looked liked a horizontally stretched image of the 4:3 view. After some investigation, it turns out that if you press Display once (first menu), then go to the bottom option, then pick CUSTOM (make sure you've stopped your DVD viewing), you'll be taken to the screen where you can tell the DVD player whether you have a 4:3 screen or a 16:9 screen. Now, I can watch Disney DVDs with NO BLACK BARS! :)

  • "Marginal Unit"
    on by flybige

Pros Great Looking, good selection of output

    Cons Picky about discs

Summary Well, I bought this unit based on the sony name and for the outputs. I am not sure I will buy a Sony again. Ever since day one the unit was very picky about the disc it played. If the disc wasn't just about factory perfect it wouldn't play. Of course about 2 month after the warranty expired the unit gave up the ghost. Sony was of little help and wants nearly the purchase price to replace a circuit board.

I was very disappointed in Sony on this product.

  • "Excellent DVD Player!!"
    on

Pros Plays all DVD and VCD,SVCD formats, no complaints at all after 2 years of ownership, I'm still just now using some of the advanced features such as progressive scan, and recordable DVD formats.

Cons Does not have a pause zoom feature, but I researched and knew that going in.

  • "NO COMPLAINTS HERE ! ! !"
    on

Pros -I purchased mine as a "demo" model and only paid $65.00 Canadain :) -Picture quality is brilliant and it plays every format out there. -Plays DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, VCD, SVCD, MP3, CD-R, and more. -When stop is pressed once then you press play, it picks up

Cons -I purchased mine as a "demo" model and only paid $65.00 Canadain and got the Sony DVD RMT-D141A remote with NO number buttons so if makes it a hard to jump ahead to a specific point in the movie.. -Would LOVE to get the proper remote or a nice universal

  • "good, reliable product for the money"
    on

Pros Progressive scan picture quality, easy to navigate menu system, adjustable picture modes

Cons Remote with no backlighting or glow in dark buttons
