"Amazing picture on both HD DVDs & good old SD DVDs!"
Pros: Picture, build quality, Excellent upconverting player
Cons: Slow responses. Lack of full 5.1 support of new hi-res audio formats
Summary: HD DVDs put via the Toshiba put out the most impressive images I've seen on my display. Very dimensional, crystal clear, noise free, and no ugly compression artifacts like broadcast HD. I've tried 5 different standard def DVD players on my plasma and this players totally outshines them all on standard def DVDs. Shoot, it's a steal just for its performance on SD DVDs. Many owners of $1000+ SD players like the Pioneer 59/79avi have found this to be true and put their expensive players up for sale. Yes, the Toshiba has slow reflexes, but an extra 30-60 seconds before a 2 hour movie is no big deal to me. A steal at $500.

What kind of display did you hook it up to? I'm wondering because I am little worried how much picture quality I lose on a "non-1080p" hdtv.
