"Avoid this product, no customer support from Toshiba" on by penfe

Pros: Picture and sound was good. Fairly easy to operate.

Cons: DVD player developed problems within a few weeks and got worse. Toshiba doesn't support unit, evidently something to do w/ the "XD" model.

Summary: Don't buy unless you are feeling lucky because if it has problems, you won't get it repaired. Had troubles w/ unit powering up, had to unplug/plug back in to get it to power up. Then it stopped opening up. Of course by now it is over 1 month and too late to return, my mistake for waiting so long. Tried to contact Toshiba at 866-583-7353 for service, waste of time but does give your blood pressure a boost. Never could get a person on this #. Called Toshiba America 800-631-3811, talked to a person, explained problems w/ the other #, absolutely no help, refused to let me talk to supv. Good name in electronics now but not for long, if they keep up this kind of service. I won't touch another Toshiba product. If you purchase this, understand that you are buying the product without a warranty!

"Worked fine the first 5 months" on by JUBRY1

Pros: good picture, easy to use

Cons: died after 5 months. Toshiba "support" had the same problems described as in the manual and no place to enter any new problems. did the "contact us" ; never received an answer. this is big contrast to the support we've had with my son's laptop.

Summary: i guess i'll get the extended warranty next time I buy a DVD player. I've had this one and a Samsung that only worked a few days.

"Disposable piece of junk." on by pvwrght

Pros: Cheap, easy to set up.

Cons: Died after 5 months. No support from Toshiba. They suggested I buy a new one. WHAT NERVE!

Summary: Toshiba USED to make great products. I have installed hundreds of Toshiba CD drives and still have some running that are over 10 years old. This DVD drive had a 90 day warranty and died after 5 months. Toshiba and I are done...

"Terrible quality and support" on by timothytobrien

Pros: Good video for three months of use.

    Cons: Terrible quality and support.

Summary: I received player as a gift and it worked great initially. Then a few months later it died, it would only put out a screen of green squares. If you search this is a common problem and I thought it wouldn't happen to me but it did. I barely used the player also, only 4 - 5 rentals a month. I contacted Toshiba about it and they denied my warranty because my the time I got in contact with them it was past the 90 day warranty (phone line leads nowhere and e-mail went unanswered for weeks). Any company that only warranties their products for 90 days should arouse suspicion. I will try to avoid Toshiba products from now on and suggest you look elsewhere for a new reliable DVD player and electronics company.

"Gives new meaning to "disposable"" on by g3herman

Pros: Good picture (until it died) and sound.

Cons: Not the control you would think (bass, treble, etc). Lots of useless sound presets on the remote.

Summary: Video died within a couple months of purchase. How sad is that?
