"Pretty good DVD player"3.5 starson by Tom Christner
Pros: good picture quality, fairly fast response,
Cons: does not remember where you last stopped the disc. light weight design feels cheap, below average remote, menus look ancient
Summary: I am one of those people that think that Blu-Ray disc's are too expensive. Because of that, I wanted to get a quality DVD player that is capable of upscaling and picture enhancement.
After hearing about it from John C. Dvorak, I decided to investigate this device. Though it is 100% higher than a comparable HDMI DVD player, the color mode makes the picture more vibrant. Other modes include sharp and contrast, which electronically adjusts the output.
One complaint that I have about the unit is the fact that it does not save the spot where you last stopped. I have a circa 2002 player that has that feature, so I am curious to know why Toshiba opted to leave that off of this model.
If you do not have plans to by a Blu-Ray player, I say buy this one and enjoy regular DVD's.
