I purchased my DMR-55 in July of 2004. I did't even know some people were having problems with different brands of blank DVD-R's until I read your statement. I've used Memorex, "Generic" Office Depot, & even cheap RCA blank Discs with no problems whatsoever! I did have some problems with a pack of "Liquid Video" Discs that I bought on ebay, but they would'nt record on my computer's DVD recorder either, sooo I guess they were bad.
