Pros: I don't know what the last reviewer is talking about. If taping a show off TV, all you need to do is push pause to eliminate commercials. This machine is not for the soft of mind. It does not have a lot of frills, don't buy it thinking it is TiVo. Do
Cons: For some reason I had trouble with S-video, but cables work fine. Text title only allows for about 6 characters which sucks. Overall a simplistic machine that is relatively easy to use

Pros: simple recording, just push the button but you have to be around to push stop. I have been recording tv for a friend who is living abroad and putting 6 hours per disc. had a few problems in the beginning about 11 months ago but since everything has been
Cons: I have found that it wont format a new disc after recording for a while. I think it has to do with the machine overheating. When this happens i usually **** it down for an hour and bring it back up. the same disc that once said "no disc" or "disc failure

"Basics okay but service is the worst"
Pros: Does the basics of recording decently
Cons: Has many software glitches. The service from Gateway is the worst I have seen from any company. Pray you do not have any problems. Even if they do service it- which is questionable and at considerable cost and time on your part, You will not see this unit

"Terrible service and support."
Pros: Performed well when it worked.
Cons: Stopped reading disks after 6 months. Gateway replaced the unit but did not send me a power cord or remote control. It has been over 3 months and they still have not sent a power cord to me, so I have no DVR and no way to check if the replaced unit work
